Naturalistic Study Into the Hangover Effects of MDMA
Prospective case–control observational study (n=39) comparing hangover symptoms after New Year's Eve between MDMA users, other drug users, and alcohol-only users.
Detailed Description
Participants (convenience sample invited via the party organiser) completed daily questionnaires during the week after New Year's Eve about presence and severity of hangover symptoms.
On day 1 demographics and substance use at New Year's Eve were recorded; on day 7 the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) assessed mood over the prior week.
After four weeks, following a drug-free week, the BSI was repeated to provide a reference assessment.
