Course Overview
The course Buddhism & Psychedelic Therapy offers a unique blend of traditional Buddhist wisdom and the cutting-edge field of psychedelic-assisted therapy. This course bridges the gap between the two, providing a comprehensive overview of the intersection of these practices.
Through a combination of lecture and experiential learning, participants will explore various topics and experiences, including modern meditation research, mindfulness techniques, self-compassion training programs, and the "dark night" experiences in meditation.
By the end of the course, participants will have a deeper understanding of how Buddhist psychology can inform psychedelic therapy. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess their own competency with mindfulness techniques, compare modern mindfulness and Buddhism, and apply self-compassion and compassion practices to their work with clients.
Additionally, participants will be able to understand the risks and opportunities presented by the decontextualization of Buddhism and psychedelics from their traditional cultural contexts, and create a plan for continued study and practice to support their own growth and development as therapists.
